Getting some fresh air!!

It is important for people who suffer from anxiety and depression to go outside and get some fresh air. Being cooped up inside your house all day long will drive you insane, which will make your anxiety and depression worse. So try to go outside just for a little while and soak up the sun!!!! Take a walk around the block. I know  that you are probably saying to yourself that it is easier said than done. Believe me I have been there. This whole week I have been so lazy that I have been sleeping a whole lot more than I should have and even a friend was getting worried and was telling me that it is not healthy to be sleeping as much as I do. I have been sleeping a lot because I haven’t been taking my medication lately, cause I have been too lazy to get up and take them. However, Here I am now outside in a library writing to you guys on my new laptop and driving around town having fun. Going outside in the sun will help you to be more active and the sun will make you feel better and a little happy that you will want to go outside more often. If you are feeling depressed and/or anxious write in a journal. writing your feelings and thoughts down will relieve your stress because now they are written down on paper and you have vented out your feelings in a healthy way.

Working with anxiety and depression

As you know I write from experience to let others know that they are not alone. With that being said todays topic is about working in a stressful environment while suffering from anxiety and depression. My work environment has been stressful because I have one coworker who is so two faced and a control freak and who also refuses to accept that I have carpal tunnel and cant lift anything heavy. So I am constantly arguing with her and it has gotten to the point where my anxiety has gotten worse where im starting have panic attacks and even crying from frustration . Which For me crying is my panic attack. Talking to management hasn’t worked. talking to HR hasn’t worked and it is all because she lies through her teeth about everything when I have told the truth and owned up to everything wrong that I have said or did. When any stressful situation happens to come your way it is important that you find a creative outlet to let all your frustrations out for example, you can’t take up a hobby like planner decorating or even a journal to write in that You can decorate. It is important that you have a lot of support and someone to trust that you can talk to you for me it is family and love ones.

Easier said than done

Taking care of yourself

taking care of yourself mentally and emotionally is very important especially if you are suffering from a mental illness. For example, depression and anxiety. Taking care of yourself may seem like a huge undertaking, so just take it step by step and day by day. In order to take care of others in your life, you first need to take care of yourself first. How can you take care of others if you can’t even take care of yourself?

steps to take care of yourself

  1. exercise. You don’t need to get a gym membership. Take a walk outside, play a sport.
  2. Yoga:  you can do yoga at home. there are apps that help you. You can even by DVDs.
  3. meditate and ground yourself.
  4. write down your emotions, fears, and worries in a journal, writing in a journal helps relieve all your anxiety
  5. go outside and get some fresh air. staying at home will only make your anxiety worse because you’re not doing anything and your mind will start telling all of your fears and worries.
  6. Most importantly seek professional help, if you are having suicidal idealizations  PLEASE call the suicide hotline 1800-273-8255

living with depression and anxiety on a day to day basis

living with depression and anxiety everyday can be very overwhelming and debilitating. I know this cause i suffer from depression and generalized anxiety disorder. everyday is a struggle for me to get out of bed and be productive. my depression and anxiety have gotten overwhelmingly worse in the past few weeks to a few months where all i wanted to do was just sleep all day everyday and avoid everyone and everything in my life because i feel so worthless and ashamed of my life that i havent accomplished anything in my life and have nothing to show for it.  My anxiety would be freaking me out about my future and my depression would be telling me that I will always be a loser and that i will never have a successful career that i love, i will never get married and have a family of my own that i have always wanted. it always tells me that im a loser because im still living with my mom at the age of 33 and that at that age i should already be living at my own place with a successful career. However here i am still living with my mom and still trying to find myself. Hating myself for trusting someone that i thought was my friend but instead betrayed me and stabbed me in the back, getting in trouble with the law and ending up in jail for two months and a felony on my record. which i am still trying to get expunged. The whole point of this post right here is to inform people that suffering from depression and anxiety can take over your life and that you are not alone. this post is also to let you know how you can manage your depression and anxiety.

  • Yoga can be a very helpful way to calm yourself down from anxiety and depression. You don’t have to pay to go to a yoga studio to do yoga. you can go on youtube and find yoga videos to practice or you can buy yoga dvds and practice yoga at home. I also have a post of yoga poses that can cure/manage anxiety.
  • seeking professional help is a must to help you with your anxiety and depression. a therapist can tell you how to control your anxiety and depression without medication. A psychiatrist can prescribe you medication if you cant control it on your own. There are a few sites that have low cost ways to get professional help like
  • Writing in a journal about your feelings can definitely free you because you will be getting out all your worries on paper.
  • taking up a fun hobby to get your mind off of all the stress and worries that you may have. For example, I have taken up decorating my planner, crocheting and coloring
  • I also have a resource page with more activities that can help you manage your anxiety and depression.

Valentines day doesnt just have to be for couples it can be for just you by making a day out of it for yourself. You can pamper yourself by getting youre hair done, youre nails done or even just going a shopping spree to make you happy. Get all dressed up while you are pampering yourself and making a day out of it, to make yourself feel good about this holiday. I have even found out that there are actual valentines day events for single people. find a fun hobby to do. you an even stay at home and stream a movie to watch with a bottle of wine. If you are anything like me you will rent horror movies because i absolutely hate love stories because they are unrealistic in nature and give people unrealistic romantic expectations.

Postpartum depression by Haley fuss

Post partum depression is a topic that not many people understand unless they’ve had it. Post partum to me is where you feel like you’re drowning and can’t get ahead.. You’re basically failing your child in your mind. You could be the best mom ever but in your head you’re the biggest failure of a mom ever. People who don’t understand post partum think it’s funny to make fun of or that it’s a made up illness. It’s not made up at all, it’s a very serious thing that needs to be treated immediately. PPD (post partum depression) can basically eat you alive until you can’t separate fact from fiction. It’s extremely important to tell someone you trust if you think you have PPD. PPD makes you think that you can’t do anything right. My personal struggles with PPD have caused me to not be the best mom I can be to my son. To some people it can be hiding in the bathroom crying while your child cry’s In another room. To some people it could be taking a second to calm down and breathe while your child stares at you. It’s different things for different people but that doesn’t mean it is any less real of a problem.

Haley fusses story struggling with anorexia

For those of you who don’t know what Anorexia Nervosa is, it is when someone actively tries to lose more weight or maintains a current weight under what is considered healthy for their age and height. I’m Haley and I struggled with Anorexia for roughly five years. Anorexia is dangerous because you can have it and have absolutely no idea that you suffer from it. Many people will refer to anorexia as “Ana” online. Anorexia can make you loose your period in women, it can slow down your growth physically, and most importantly it can make you lose yourself. Many times when someone has an eating disorder they will not recognize who they see in the mirror, all they will see is the weight or what they are most self-conscious about. Personally when I struggled I focused on my weight and toning my body the most. Anorexia still affects my mental health to this day and I have been in recovery for 2 full years now. When you suffer from anorexia you can have sever anxiety, depression, and even bipolar disorder. Generally when someone suffers from an eating disorder they choose baggy over tight fitting clothes, they will be more inclined to hide food rather than eat, and they will choose to avoid eating in front of people at all costs. The main reason I am so open about my struggles with anorexia nervosa is because I want to end the stigma associated with it. Anorexia isn’t taboo, it is a real struggle that every day people face and have lost their life too. Life after an eating disorder is very possible even though it may not seem it at the time. When talking to someone who you think has an eating disorder don’t push them, let them talk to you about what bothers them. Don’t call them out for counting calories or not wanting dressing on their salad. The best way to recovery is through a friend who listens and is willing to walk you through the process step by step. I would love to hear from any of you who need someone to talk too about eating disorders or want to hear my personal recovery story.

End the stigma on mental health (guest post by haley fuss)

Mental Health is something I am extremely passionate about. Over the past  -10 years Ive suffered from depression,  anxiety, panic attacks ,and an eating disorder. Ive been seen by multiple doctors on the subject of mental  Health. What iv learned is medicne is not the enemy, whatever you suffer from is. I also learned that it is okay to take time for yourself every now and then. You can expect to get better if you dont take time to do the things that you love and enjoy. Mental health issues arent as glamorous as they are seen on television. Mental health issues is when you’re sitting in a make shift psych ward that doubles as a drunk tank waiting  to be sent  to a mental hospital. Mental health issues is crying  until you run out of tears. Mental health issues NEED to be talked about. We personally need to end the stigma that is associated with mental health.
